Participating banks
Two lists, for two different purposes. A bank on the real-time clearance list can
receive an immediatePayment. A bank on the PayShap list may additionally have a
real-time instruction converted to PayShap automatically.
Real-time clearance
immediatePayment applies only to these banks. Instructing an immediate
payment to a bank not on this list will not clear in real time.

Differences between the two lists
Banks on the real-time clearance list but not on the PayShap list:
Al Baraka Bank · Access Bank · Bidvest Bank · Finbond Mutual Bank · Nedbank Corporate Saver · Standard Chartered Bank
HBZ Bank appears on the PayShap list despite having been removed from the real-time clearance list in October 2024. Since PayShap conversion is described as applying to a real-time clearance instruction, confirm with customer support how a PayShap payment to HBZ is initiated.
Standard Bank's branch code differs between the two tables — given as
51001for real-time clearance and051001for PayShap. The six-digit form051001is used in the worked examples throughout the guide. See known issues.
